When I first decided to pursue an MBA, I received the same question over and over: “Why an MBA?”
People who know me, and my commitment to social and environmental causes, were surprised. They expected me to follow a more traditional path; maybe a master’s in public policy, development, or law. And honestly, all of those would have been incredible.
But the real question behind their surprise seemed to be: Is an MBA the right place for someone driven by a strong purpose of social transformation?
That question may arise from an outdated view of business: one that assumes an inevitable tension between profit and positive impact, between shareholders and stakeholders, or between growth and sustainability.
I believe differently. In my experience working in strategy, sustainability, and innovation, I have seen first hand how well conducted businesses can create scalable, lasting solutions to some of humanity’s greatest challenges. Whether addressing inequality, poverty, or climate change, businesses can be an unparalleled force for good.
That’s why I chose the Cambridge MBA.
Cambridge is a beacon of knowledge, innovation, and leadership, that has shaped global progress for centuries, and Cambridge Judge Business School designed the most purpose driven programme I could find. My MBA cohort here isn’t just a group of exceptionally talented professionals – they’re visionaries, committed to reshaping business and society. I am beyond excited to learn from them and expand my network of future leaders who share a commitment to building a better world.
As I continue on this journey, I’m eager to explore new ways in which this notion of ‘Business for Good’ can transform lives and address the global challenges we face today. I look forward to sharing this adventure with you all!
