Hi, I’m Supawit Supakornpichan, but people know me as M, which is my nickname in Thai. My girlfriend, Palita Varojpiputhn, goes by Beam. We both share a deep passion for gaming, which is how we first met. Back in Thailand, we worked at Garena, the country’s largest gaming company and one of the global leaders in the industry, known for hit games like Free Fire and Arena of Valor. While collaborating on overlapping projects, Beam and I discovered how much we had in common – not just in gaming but in how we approach work and life – and that connection turned into a relationship.
Later, I joined Riot Games, the creators of League of Legends and VALORANT, while Beam transitioned to managing her family’s business. Riot is an industry giant, and working there showed me the potential of gaming to expand into other areas like music, apparel, board games, and even TV shows. Beam’s family business, on the other hand, is one of Southeast Asia’s leading companies in carbon and powder metallurgy. Her goal is to expand the business across Southeast Asia, ensuring it stays at the forefront of the industry.
One thing we’ve always shared is the dream of studying at a world-class university. For me, the MBA is about broadening my horizons, meeting people from various industries, and gaining new perspectives to help bring gaming into other entertainment sectors. For Beam, it’s about enhancing her business skills to realise her expansion goals. After extensive research, Cambridge stood out as the perfect choice for both of us – its courses, diverse cohort, one-year format, and the city’s incredible atmosphere all felt right. Even though we both got accepted into other top UK schools, Cambridge was an easy final decision.
I’m at Hughes College, and Beam is at Darwin. We live together in private accommodation but love our respective colleges and frequently invite friends to join formals – or get invited to theirs. The unique college system makes Cambridge feel like a close-knit community.
There’s one place in Cambridge we both absolutely love – Jack’s Gelato. It’s the best gelato shop in town, and Beam and I go there MANY TIMES a week with both our Thai and international friends. It’s incredible, and if you haven’t tried it yet, you definitely should.
At first, we were nervous about the challenges of attending one of the world’s best MBA programmes. But the incredible support from the MBA programme team, our cohort, and the professors at Cambridge Judge Business School made it easy for us to adapt. Even as introverts, we quickly built great connections through the many events, courses, and activities available.
Beyond the Cambridge MBA, we have made the most of our time by travelling – exploring Cambridge, London, and other parts of Europe. This year has already been one of the best and most rewarding experiences of my life, and I am confident it will stay that way.
For anyone considering Cambridge, trust me – you won’t regret it. It’s a life-changing experience, both personally and professionally.
