We were thrilled by the successful conclusion of the CUEN 2024 conference – The Cambridge University Energy Network.

The CUEN Conference is a prestigious annual event that unites Cambridge’s expansive academic and industrial communities to address urgent issues in the energy sector. This year’s theme, “Bridging Disciplines: A Holistic Approach to Decarbonization at CUEN,” inspired three keynote lectures and two panel discussions, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and innovative solutions.

Traditionally led by the Business School, CUEN has focused on the business and policy aspects of energy transition and sustainability. This year, we broadened our scope by collaborating closely with the Cambridge University Energy Technology Society (CUETS). The Co-President of CUETS, Max, was instrumental as a member of the organising team, helping to ensure a diverse and inclusive perspective.

As a student at Cambridge University, I have witnessed the immense potential of this community, brimming with professionals and experts across various fields. Our primary motivation for this year’s conference was to harness this potential by bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders in energy transition, both from within and outside Cambridge. This interdisciplinary approach, we believe, will lead to ground breaking initiatives. The conference offered a unique opportunity to gain cutting-edge insights from esteemed speakers, exchange ideas, and build valuable connections.

The journey to this moment has been long and challenging. Securing high-profile speakers, who are always in high demand, often seemed an insurmountable task. There were moments when I almost gave up, but perseverance brought us to this incredible moment. Each session was highly engaging, with insightful questions from the audience sparking further discussions and deeper understanding.

Thank you for all the support related to the CUEN Annual Conference 2024. As I mentioned in my closing remarks, I hope the inspiration and connections made here will evolve into impactful initiatives over the next five, ten years, and beyond.
