Three months into the MBA programme at Cambridge and the first term, Michaelmas Term, comes to a close. The last three months were stories of success, failure, excitement, fun and learning infused with intensity. Here’s a snippet into my first term in Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS) University of Cambridge.
Began my life here as the only Bangladeshi student in this cohort along with a CJBS Regional Diversity Scholarship. The term started with matriculation at the Cambridge Colleges and ended with exams and essay submissions. Within this period I went through so many memorable events, it’s hard to commemorate them all at once. I ventured to try out many things which I hadn’t done before. Not everything ended with a resounding success but the learning and curiosity was always there.
I felt honoured to be part of a cohort who are so brilliant, their brilliance inspires me to do even more. Being taught by the world class faculty at Cambridge definitely helped me expand my knowledge base, with everything that’s going on around the world and the special focus on global business.
Apart from my classroom learning, I got so many opportunities to attend and learn from different workshops. Joining the event by Cambridge University Technology and Enterprise Club and experiencing how Gravity Sketch is shaping the design industry through their software, harnessing the power of Meta Quest Pro. Attending a talk by Dr. Roxane Farmanfarmaian on Gulf energy dynamics definitely gave me a short intro into this topic. Enjoyed value investing lessons from Bruno Carraro and Dr Chang Shu. Lot’s of learnings from the Noise and Bias session by Professor Sunstein. And the overall experience of the venture project with Cambridge Cleantech was immense.
But the first term was not only about work, but also about fun. I made so many memories attending formals and other social gatherings, trying out new sports such as tennis and the quintessential Cambridge rowing. I also participated in a business competition even though the result was not as expected.
All in all I spent a very eventful first term in my MBA life. I eagerly look forward to the next.
